Yesterday was our first wedding anniversary. Hoooray!
We started the morning off with a pot of coffee and a little song for Melvin celebrating one year of him being a part of our family (but neither one of us can remember it today).
In the days leading up to our anniversary, we started getting boxes and cards in the mail. We managed to wait until Sunday morning before opening anything.
Since we arrived in Austin, I’ve been dying to go to this donut place called Gourdough’s.
Boy, oh boy, it was well worth the wait! Trav got Granny’s Pie (caramel, pecans, bananas, graham cracker) and I got the Funky Monkey (grilled bananas, cream cheese icing, brown sugar). So very delicious.
After breakfast, we hung around the house for a bit and then took a little bike ride up to Torchy’s Tacos for a quick lunch. Man, that place never disappoints. Torchy’s4Lyfe! Haha. We then took a leisurely bike ride through some neighborhoods, checking out houses, looking at cats and chickens while seeing more of the city.
We stopped in at Snack Bar, a new favorite spot, for a few drinks. They have an awesome patio and all day happy hour on Sundays. It r00lz really hard.
We went home late that afternoon so I could get “all gussied up” before dinner. We decided to go to a little Italian place on South Congress because we had Italian food at our wedding.
We made reservations to sit in their shaded beer garden and the weather was absolutely perfect.
We had amazing butternut squash ravioli at our wedding, so I was stoked to see it on their menu. It. Was. INCREDIBLE! Trav chose the Mushroom Pansotti and we shared a caesar salad before dinner. They served it with a lemon wedge and Trav figured they did that for a reason, so he squeezed it over the salad. Let’s put it this way, I’ll never eat another caesar salad without a lemon wedge.
After dinner, we walked down to Amy’s Ice Creams for a chocolate shake and a small cup of their Mexican Vanilla.
We couldn’t have asked for a better 1st anniversary. 🙂
So I can hear you asking yourselves, “So, where’s Melvin on this fine Monday?” I have something a little different lined up for today:
Can you believe how big he’s gotten in one short year?!
